Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James was born and raised in Ohio, so it’s no surprise that he’s a huge Ohio State fan.

Understandably, he was a bit upset when Alabama got the No. 4 seed in the College Football Playoff over his Buckeyes, even though the Buckeyes won the Big Ten Championship Game over Wisconsin.

However, when asked about the CFP committee’s decision on Monday, James gave a reasonable and unbiased response, saying he thought the committee actually did a great job (via WKYC.com):

“It is what it is,” James said. “I think the committee, I think they did a great job honestly. Obviously I’m a huge Buckeye fan and we would’ve loved to be in the final four, to be able to compete for a national championship, but there’s never been a two-loss team in the final four, and if you look at the top four teams that made the final four, can you really argue? So we look forward to playing in the Rose Bowl vs. USC.”

Of course, the Buckeyes aren’t playing in the Rose Bowl — they’ll be taking on USC, but it will be in the Cotton Bowl. That’s an honest mistake by James, though, as the Pac-12 champion usually goes to the Rose Bowl. Since it’s a semifinal game this year, though, Georgia and Oklahoma will square off in the annual game.

Still, USC vs. Ohio State should be one of the most exciting non-Playoff games. And, with answers like the one above, James could find himself on the CFP committee himself one day, if he so chooses.
