Tennessee hasn’t been making many big splashes on the recruiting trails ahead of Wednesday’s National Signing Day, and now one of the Vols’ top committed players may be having second thoughts.

4-star 2018 LB JJ Peterson out of Georgia is apparently listening to what Alabama has to say with only a couple of days left to make up his mind.

According to his high school coach, things are very even between the Vols and the Crimson Tide as of Sunday night (via AL.com):

“Alabama has made a very strong push,” said Rush Propst, Peterson’s coach at Colquitt County High School. “I don’t think either one, Alabama or Tennessee, is a clear favorite as of Sunday afternoon. I think it’s a dead heat right now, 50-50.”

According to the 247Sports composite, Peterson is the No. 3 outside linebacker in the class of 2018 and the No. 7 overall recruit in the talent-rich state of Georgia.

Whether or not new Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt can hold off Nick Saban, his former boss, remains to be seen, but losing Peterson would be a huge blow to the Vols’ 2018 class.
