On Monday, it originally appeared that Tua Tagovailoa’s struggles in the SEC Championship Week wouldn’t harm his standing as the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.

But that abruptly changed as online sportsbook BetOnline.ag installed Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray as a slight favorite, according to a tweet from OddsShark. It was a huge change from the original betting lines OddsShark shared about 20 minutes before posting the updated numbers.

The swing is likely a result of Murray’s 379-yard, three-touchdown performance in the Big 12 Championship Game, a performance that looked much better when compared with Tagovailoa’s struggles before exiting the SEC title game with an injury.

Murray swayed at least the 10 members who vote on ESPN’s Heisman Trophy Watch panel, who gave the Sooners signal-caller a slight edge against Alabama’s sophomore star.

Now it appears that oddsmakers feel the same way about the Heisman race.
