The last two Oklahoma quarterbacks — Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray — have won the Heisman Trophy. Mayfield went on to be the No. 1 overall pick and Murray could end up being the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft.

Obviously, that’s a lot of pressure for new QB Jalen Hurts, who came to Norman from Alabama this offseason.

As you can see in the video below, he was asked about being compared to those two stars on Wednesday, and said he’s just focused on being the best version of himself he can be:

“I don’t want to get into comparisons. Baker is Baker, Kyler is Kyler and I’m me,” Hurts said. “The objective of all of this is to be able to accomplish your goals. … Right now, it’s not about me. I’m stepping back from it. The biggest thing about this is achieving what we want as a team.”

That’s a great sentiment to have, but Alabama fans know how talented Hurts is. The SEC’s Offensive Player of the Year as a true freshman could follow in the footsteps of Mayfield and Murray anyway.
