Kirk Herbstreit is one of today’s iconic voices in college football, announcing games for ESPN and also serving as one of the College GameDay analysts.

So, when he speaks, people listen. On Tuesday, Herbie made his picks for the 2018 College Football Playoff field, and also named his champion.

According to USA TODAY, Herbie likes Alabama and Clemson to make it, and then added Penn State and Washington to complete the field:

I’m going to go Alabama and Clemson … just, like, put them in. And then I’m going to go Penn State and Washington.

So, who does Herbstreit think will win it all? He said he likes Clemson and Alabama to meet again (for the fourth Playoff in a row), with the Tide defending their championship:

If those are the four, then it’ll be ‘Bama and probably Washington, and Clemson and Penn State. I’m just trying to go with anybody but Alabama and Clemson, but I think it’s going to be Alabama and Clemson. And I think Alabama is going to beat Clemson in what, round four now?

Only time will tell if Herbstreit’s predictions come true, but picking Bama and Clemson to make it to the field of four has been a safe bet in recent years.
