Former Alabama and current New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower is well aware that it’s Tennessee week.

Hightower, who is from Lewisburg, Tenn., posted on Instagram Friday in regards to “The Third Saturday in October.”

He said he’s been getting texts and calls all week from his “Bama brothers” asking where he’s from. Clearly, he’s referencing the fact that he’s from Tennessee, and he also made sure to note that he was 4-0 against the Volunteers in his college career.

The stud linebacker was a star at Alabama during one of its all-time greatest periods of time from 2008 to 2011. Hightower was a part of two national championship teams and one of the defense’s undoubted leaders (selected as a team captain) by the time his fourth year rolled around. He also happened to be a consensus All-American.

In college, Hightower racked up 235 career tackles. Eighty-five of those came in 2011, a year in which he topped the Crimson Tide’s tackle chart.

That defensive unit in 2011 is regarded as one of the greatest ever in college football — finishing No. 1 in the country in multiple statistical categories, including total defense and scoring defense.
