Michael Wilbon didn’t pull any punches when it came to Florida State being left out of the College Football Playoff.

Wilbon, on Monday’s “Pardon the Interruption” on ESPN, explained that while he would have voted for Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama to be in the College Football Playoff. However, he noted that he felt bad for Florida State.

He said that the sport of football lied to Florida State because it preaches that you should play through injuries and persevere.

“On my own ballot, I think I would have voted for those 4. I genuinely feel bad for Florida State. One of the lessons that football purports to teach, fraudulently, is that you persevere and play through your wounds, and you overcome,” said Wilbon. “People say that football is the greatest sport ever because it teaches you all these lessons. It didn’t teach you a damn thing. It lied to Florida State. The sport of football lied.”

Whether fans disagree with the decision or not, Florida State will be playing Georgia in the Orange Bowl. It will be the Seminoles’ 1st time playing the Bulldogs since the 2003 Sugar Bowl.

That game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff on Dec. 30.
