Following Tua Tagovailoa’s first season in the NFL, some questioned how committed the Dolphins were to their young quarterback.

Miami just proved their commitment level to the former Alabama signal-caller as the Dolphins have just traded back in the 2021 NFL Draft according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Prior to this trade, Miami owned the No. 3 overall selection in the draft. That position left the Dolphins in a desirable spot considering the wealth of quarterback talent in this draft and the perceived lack of arm talent in the 2022 NFL Draft class.

Now the San Francisco 49ers own the No. 3 pick.

“Dolphins trading No. 3 overall pick to the San Francisco 49ers for the No. 12 pick, a 2021 third-round pick (SF’s comp pick for Robert Saleh hiring) and first-round picks in 2022 and 2023, per sources,” Schefter reported.

This move suggests the 49ers are very high on a quarterback in this draft class, as it would be unusual for a team to part with three first-round picks just to move up nine spots in a draft.

While that may seem like a high price to pay, it will prove to be a good value for the 49ers if they manage to land their quarterback of the future with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
