Mark Barron’s tenure with the Denver Broncos has come to a disappointing end.

The former Alabama star linebacker and former top 10 draft pick has been waived by the Broncos, the team announced on Tuesday.

Barron joined Denver ahead of the 2020 season after being released halfway through a 2-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers worth $12 million. His contract with the Broncos was substantially less: 1 year, $2.5 million, with a base of $1.75 million guaranteed.

However, injuries took their toll on the 9-year NFL veteran. Denver put him on injured reserve after he suffered a hamstring injury in the season opener, only for him to suffer a 2nd injury in the weight room. Despite being taken off IR in November, he never saw the field, with the Broncos deciding to part ways with him on Tuesday.

In 119 games, Barron has recorded 710 tackles, including a career-high 118 with the Los Angeles Rams in 2016. With Alabama, he was a 3-time All-SEC pick and a 2-time All-American, winning 2 national championships with the Crimson Tide.
