Wednesday morning opened with big news out of Tuscaloosa: Alabama LB Dylan Moses reportedly tore his ACL and will miss the 2019 season.

Not long after the reports emerged, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban confirmed the news of a serious injury and lengthy absence during his appearance on the weekly SEC media teleconference.

“Dylan was injured yesterday at practice, had a knee injury. It requires surgery, he will be out for an indefinite period of time. Certainly, this will be a character check of our team and we will do everything we can to support Dylan and the people that will fill in for Dylan,” Saban said.

The news broke shortly before the coaches’ media teleconference started.

In 2018, Moses led the Alabama defense with 86 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one pass break up and one forced fumble, a campaign which made him a finalist for last year’s Butkus Award. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native represented Alabama at this year’s SEC Media Days and was expected to be among the Crimson Tide defense’s impact players again in 2019.

Moses was named Second Team All-America by the Walter Camp Association and was honored as a Second Team All-SEC coaches selection last season.
