Nick Saban preached the importance of a wire-to-wire effort to his Alabama team after a too-close-for-comfort win over Texas during Week 2. While the Crimson Tide were heavily favored to beat Louisiana-Monroe, Saban, as is typical, brushed off any suggestions from media that it would be a walk in the park for his group.

Naturally, it was just that: the Tide held the Warhawks to 169 yards of total offense in a 63-7 romp. With the game well in hand, Saban was able to roll out depth players and give them experience they weren’t able to receive in a tight contest like the one in Austin.

And the notoriously meticulous Saban, who isn’t afraid to show his frustration even on the back of a blowout, didn’t have many complaints after the Tide’s last outing.

“We had more players play to the standard. Even when the second guys got into the game, they played better in the second half. That was a good thing,” he said on his radio show on Thursday, according to 247Sports’ Charlie Potter.

He did point out one area that needed a little improvement, though, and that’s his offensive line.

“The thing we’ve been trying to do a better job of is being a little bit more physical inside,” he said. “Some of it is personnel, which we’ve got a lot of competition there. I think some of the younger players are more physical and maybe they can help us down the road.”

Alabama will look to improve to 4-0 on the season as it welcomes Vanderbilt to Tuscaloosa. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
