The Alabama Crimson Tide won the SEC regular-season and SEC Tournament titles this season, Nate Oats’ second year in Tuscaloosa.

But, the Tide’s NCAA Tournament run came to an end on Sunday night in an overtime loss against 11-seed UCLA.

On Tuesday, football coach Nick Saban spoke with reporters. He weighed in on the loss and then praised the culture Oats has built with the basketball program, saying he hopes it helps the team with recruiting:

Considering Saban already consistently puts together top-rated recruiting classes, he doesn’t need much help. But, he’s right about winning impacting recruiting for Oats and the the hoops squad — the better the athletic department is as a whole, the more talent the school can attract across all sports.

Oats has the men’s hoops team trending in the right direction. We’ll see if he continues to hang banners in the coming years.
