Nick Saban offered some praise for senior wide receiver Jermaine Burton heading into Alabama’s matchup at South Florida in Week 3.

The 6-foot, 194-pound Burton has 5 receptions for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns this season. Saban is impressed with the strides Burton has made early in the 2023 campaign.

Saban envisions a productive season for the Calabasas, CA native. Burton has amassed 98 receptions for 1,698 yards and 17 touchdowns during his time with the Crimson Tide.

“He’s done really well this year and obviously not his fault that somebody else committed a penalty when he had the opportunity to make a play and his consistency in performance has been very good to this point,” Saban said. “We’re very pleased with the progress he’s made. We want him to continue to grow and develop and show the maturity and dependability that you need to have to be an outstanding player, which he’s certainly is capable of being and has been for us.”

Alabama will aim to get back into the win column after the Week 2 loss to visiting Texas. This will be the second meeting between the programs, with Alabama taking the inaugural matchup with South Florida 40-17 in 2003.

Alabama at South Florida is slated for Sept. 16 at 3:30 p.m. EST (ABC).
