Alabama may not have a bye week to rest up for the Iron Bowl this year but the Crimson Tide have the next best thing, a home date scheduled versus the Citadel on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Despite the fact the Citadel has won two of the previous three Southern Conference titles, this game ranked among the top 10 “most shameful” games of the 2018 season by John Coon of Athlon Sports. No other SEC game was identified on the list, although nearly every league program has a game that could have been mentioned.

These games all are pretty shameful when you think about it: Georgia vs. Austin Peay, Arkansas against Eastern Illinois, Auburn against Liberty, LSU against SE Louisiana, Mississippi State against Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M against Northwestern State, Florida against Charleston, Kentucky against Murray State, Missouri against UT Martin, South Carolina against Coastal Carolina, and Tennessee against East Tennessee State.

You can certainly credit Nick Saban’s program from being fearless when it comes to early season non-conference scheduling but by the time November rolls around, Alabama is wisely never going to add a tough non-conference matchup near the end of its SEC slate.
