You likely didn’t have any doubt which way SEC Network host Paul Finebaum would be leaning heading into Alabama’s season opener against Florida State, but in case you did, the former Alabama radio host is rolling with the Tide.

During his weekly Monday morning appearance on WJOX 94.5 FM radio program The Opening Drive, Finebaum was asked to share his thoughts on the Crimson Tide’s Atlanta opener.

“I think the biggest storyline is the hype when you get right down to it. This game, from the moment we heard about it, we know it would be one of the biggest,” Finebaum said on the air. “I think the question is, despite all the hype, will it live up to it?”

The SEC Network host then went on to state the main reason he’s picking Alabama to win the game.

“I still don’t know many people that think Florida State can win,” Finebaum continued. “When you get right down to it, even if it’s an even matchup, and I don’t think it’s uneven, Nick Saban is the deciding factor.”

Based on his closing comments regarding the game, Finebaum clearly hasn’t bought into the ACC hype.

“As long as Alabama plays its game and executes well, I know this is coach speak, they’re going to win. They have the best program in the country,” he said. “As much as Jimbo Fisher wants to talk about the ACC, as much as pundits want to talk about Francois and Derwin James and everything else on the other side of the ball, until someone comes up and beats Alabama, I’m not going to believe it.”
