The Miami Dolphins drafted former Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and he’ll compete with incumbent starter Ryan Fitzpatrick for the starting job.

Off the field, Tua is already making some high-profile friends, including rapper Rick Ross, a Miami native.

During a recent appearance on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” Ross said he can’t wait to hang out with Tagovailoa (via 247Sports):

“We actually just spoke through social media,” Ross said. “We spoke through social media a couple times and we spoke of us getting together. Once this COVID(-19) … clears up we’re gonna get to kick it. Growing up in Miami, Miami is a quarterback city. Since Dan Marino left, we’ve been really going through it. So once we got to draft Tua, I went crazy. I went running around the state, ‘Yeah, baby!’ The city’s ready, man. It’s not just Rozay, but the entire city and state of Florida. Even though the big homie Tom Brady went to Tampa, and we gon’ salute that. But Tua coming to Miami, that was breathtaking. I’m excited.”

Ross is a good friend to have in the Miami area, and he’s excited to have the former Alabama star with the Dolphins this fall. We’ll see how long it takes Tua to win the starting job.
