Alabama defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley is leaving for an NFL job.

Ansley reached an agreement with the Oakland Raiders and new head coach Jon Gruden to coach the secondary, per FootballScoop. Previously, Ansley was set to leave Alabama to become the defensive coordinator at Colorado State under Mike Bobo, but his plans changed when the Raiders called. Either way, it appears he was leaving Tuscaloosa for a promotion.

In addition to defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who left for Tennessee, Ansley is the only other on-field coach who is leaving Alabama (so far). Ansley started his coaching career at Alabama as a graduate assistant in 2010 and 2011 before becoming a defensive assistant at UCF, Tennessee and Kentucky. He returned to Alabama in 2016 to coach the defensive backs.

Alabama hired former UTSA defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Pete Golding as the team’s 10th assistant last month.
