When the Arizona State Sun Devils brought Herm Edwards in to be their new head coach, they did so with the assumption that the rest of the coaching staff would stay the same.

However, defensive coordinator Phil Bennett recently resigned his post and now the Sun Devils are likely going to lose offensive coordinator Billy Napier, too.

According to reporter Bruce Feldman, Napier, who was offered the Louisiana-Lafayette job on Thursday, is expected to accept the position soon:

Napier served on Alabama coach Nick Saban’s staff from 2013 to 2016, coaching the wide receivers. He moved on to ASU in 2017 to serve as the team’s offensive coordinator.

Napier also has stops at Clemson and Colorado State on his resume, but the Louisiana-Lafayette job would be his first head coaching position.
