New Oregon coach Willie Taggart is trying his best to make an immediate splash in Eugene.

According to 247Sports, Taggart is heading to Hawaii to meet with five-star 2017 QB Tua Tagovailoa, who has been committed to Alabama since this spring.

Taggart may try to convince Tagovailoa to follow in the footsteps of Marcus Mariota, another Hawaiian quarterback who found great success with the Ducks.

Tagovailoa looks up to Mariota and the now-Tennessee Titans quarterback has served as a mentor for the Alabama commit, so Taggart may actually have a chance to flip the dual-threat quarterback.

According to 247Sports, Tagovailoa is the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2017 and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Hawaii.
