It’s been a rough offseason for San Francisco 49ers LB Reuben Foster, as the former Alabama star has gotten in trouble with the law twice.

From an arrest in Tuscaloosa for marijuana possession to a much more serious domestic-violence case, Foster’s future with the 49ers has been cast in doubt.

On Wednesday, San Francisco CEO Jed York commented on Foster’s future, telling NBCSports.com that Foster’s career is in his own hands:

“We’d love Reuben to be on this team,” York said on the final day of the NFL owners meetings. “And we’d love him to participate for us, but if he’s not doing things off the field that allow us to be able to rely on him – or he’s doing something that we’re not comfortable with off the field and it’s proven that’s what’s going on — I think the guys have said then you’re just going to have to move on.”

Foster had a solid rookie season, recording 59 tackles in 10 games. However, he’s proving to be a handful off the field.

Careers have ended for less, so Foster will need to shape up in a hurry if he’s going to continue to play in the NFL.
