Vanderbilt senior DL Nifae Lealao caused quite a stir on social media on Sunday after calling out the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide following the Commodores big home win over Kansas State on Saturday night.

In a video, he said the Commodores are going to show their opponents how to play “SEC ball” and said, “Alabama, you’re next.” Watch the video here.

A few current and former Alabama players responded to or liked the video on Twitter, but on Sunday afternoon, Lealao tried to explain himself, saying the Commodores are simply excited for the challenge of facing the No. 1 team in the country:

Even if Lealao didn’t mean to call out the Crimson Tide, it’s probably best to not even make any sort of ambiguous statements when you’re getting ready to play the No. 1 overall team.

Saturday’s game between the Commodores and Alabama kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Central time in Nashville and can be seen on CBS.
