Alabama fans didn’t have to wait long to see what freshman QB Tua Tagovailoa could do.

On his first drive in Saturday’s A-Day game, Tagovailoa came out firing, completing his first pass attempt on this impressive cross-body throw while rolling to the right:

Then, after a nice run by 5-star RB Najee Harris, Tagovailoa connected with T.J. Simmons for a 16-yard touchdown. As you can see below, the young freshman displayed some soft touch on the scoring play:

The starting job this fall is still Jalen Hurts’s job to lose. After all, he won the SEC Offensive Player of the Year award as a true freshman last year.

But, it’ll be nice for the Tide to have a standout backup quarterback heading into the 2017 campaign if Tagovailoa can continue to develop.
