Video: Alabama freshman QB Tua Tagovailoa impresses on opening drive, throws first TD pass
Alabama fans didn’t have to wait long to see what freshman QB Tua Tagovailoa could do.
On his first drive in Saturday’s A-Day game, Tagovailoa came out firing, completing his first pass attempt on this impressive cross-body throw while rolling to the right:

Then, after a nice run by 5-star RB Najee Harris, Tagovailoa connected with T.J. Simmons for a 16-yard touchdown. As you can see below, the young freshman displayed some soft touch on the scoring play:

The starting job this fall is still Jalen Hurts’s job to lose. After all, he won the SEC Offensive Player of the Year award as a true freshman last year.
But, it’ll be nice for the Tide to have a standout backup quarterback heading into the 2017 campaign if Tagovailoa can continue to develop.
