Alabama has used former QB Blake Sims to simulate Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight and former RB Trent Richardson to simulate LSU RB Leonard Fournette during practice in recent weeks.

Apparently, Richardson had some company. Former Alabama QB John Parker Wilson simulated LSU QB Danny Etling in practice last week, too.

While talking about his experience in the above video, Wilson said he enjoyed the time spent back with the Crimson Tide:

“It’s been three years since I played, so I didn’t exactly know how I was going to respond with my body,” he said. “But I got down there and it was fun; it was a good time.”

Fortunately for Wilson, he didn’t have to take any big hits from star defenders like DL Jonathan Allen, LB Reuben Foster and others:

“It’s amazing how much less stressful it is when you know the guys aren’t going to hurt you,” he laughed. “One of my conditions was definitely that I was going to be in a black jersey; that means you don’t get hit.”

Alabama will probably bring back some more former stars to simulate Auburn players ahead of the Iron Bowl. Too bad RB Derrick Henry is busy in the NFL, because he’d be a good simulation for Auburn’s Kamryn Pettway.
