The LSU Tigers were overmatched by the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night in Baton Rouge, falling to their rivals 29-0.

Coach Ed Orgeron pointed to Alabama’s dominance along the line of scrimmage as a big reason why the Tigers lost, and said the Tigers need some better players at those positions.

As you can see in the video below, shared by NOLA.com on YouTube, Coach O discusses what Alabama did and what LSU didn’t do in the lopsided game:

“We fought,” he said. “It was 16-0, but we fought. They made some plays, but we stopped them in the red zone. We were fighting our tails off, but we just didn’t get no help from the offense. We couldn’t get anything going and you could feel it at the end. Guys got discouraged a little bit. …

“I think Alabama overpowered us. When you max-protect and do everything you can to protect and they still beat you, you’ve got to look at personnel and you’ve got to get better. I don’t think it was scheme at all. They just overpowered us and there was nothing we could do about it.”

About Tagovailoa, Coach O had some high praise:

“He’s a great player,” he said. “He made some great throws tonight. He had guys covered, that throw he made down the sideline, that run. The guy is one of the best players I’ve seen.”

Now, LSU will try to regroup, as Coach O is right — the Tigers still can make it to a big-time bowl game if they win out.
