The first domino of Chad Morris’ first full recruiting class at Arkansas has just fallen as the top quarterback prospect in the state of Mississippi has just committed to playing his college football in Fayetteville.

KJ Jefferson of South Panola pledged to the Razorbacks over scholarship offers from Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M among others. He is currently listed as a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite Rankings but his stats don’t match that ranking. Last season as a high school junior, Jefferson passed for over 3,000 yards and had 36 passing touchdowns. He’s also careful with the ball, as he threw only three interceptions. Jefferson also added 1,325 yards on the ground and another eight scores.

Jefferson is now poised to be not only the face of Morris’ Razorback offense for years to come but potentially the ringleader for the program’s recruiting efforts for the 2019 class. The best recruiting classes often start with a quarterback and build around him. Now that Arkansas has their QB in the fold, the rest of the process should become that much easier for the program.

The Razorbacks now have a total of four commitments lined up for 2019 recruiting class.
