Injuries can have a devastating effect on a football team. Just look at the Green Bay Packers, who went from Super Bowl contender to mediocre-at-best team after star QB Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone.

In the SEC, the Arkansas Razorbacks have dealt with more than their fair share of devastating injuries, especially after news broke on Monday that C Frank Ragnow and RB Chase Hayden would miss the rest of the year.

That means that coach Bret Bielema and OC Dan Enos will now be even more limited offensively, since QB Austin Allen is still nursing an injured shoulder and RB Rawleigh Williams III had to quit playing football after injuring his neck this spring.

On Monday, Enos summed up just how bad the injuries have been for the Hogs, referencing comments Bielema made this spring:

Yes, those injuries hurt, but football coaches and players always talk about having a “next man up” mentality, and at 2-5, the Razorbacks have struggled to field a competent team.

The absences of key players should be factored in when considering whether Bielema deserves to keep his job or not, but not being able to at least compete will not do him any favors this offseason.
