The Arkansas Razorbacks enter the 2020 season with a new head coach in Sam Pittman and a new offensive coordinator in Kendal Briles.

The favorite to land the starting quarterback job is Florida transfer Feleipe Franks, who showed flashes of brilliance before suffering a season-ending injury in 2019 and losing the starting job to Kyle Trask.

This week, Briles discussed Franks and some of the Razorbacks’ other quarterbacks (including KJ Jefferson, Malik Hornsby, John Stephen Jones and Jack Lindsey) during a radio appearance (via 247Sports):

“I feel good about it. I’ve got a couple of guys with experience,” Briles said Monday during a segment on Drivetime Sports on 103.7 The Buzz. “Obviously, Feleipe has done it at a high level, won a lot of games in the SEC. Feel good about KJ and his health and where he can grow. Obviously, John and Jack, those guys are good players that have room for potential, and then Malik Hornsby and the type of ability that he can bring. He has playmaking ability, gives you a chance to win games because of his explosiveness with his legs and arm.

“You know, guys, it’s just like everybody else, it’s hard to tell at this point because you haven’t been on the field with them. All you’ve done is watch them work out back in February, March, and you haven’t seen them throw a football. So, it’s real hard to judge them when you haven’t really been on the field with them with a football.”

For teams with new coaching staffs, the COVID-19 pandemic has been even tougher, as spring practices were canceled.

When the Hogs are able to get back on the field, they’ll have to hit the ground running getting the offense installed and getting the quarterbacks up to speed.
