Cole Kelley and Ty Storey are coming off spring game performances that have many Arkansas fans eager to see what the program has in true freshmen Connor Noland and John Stephen Jones. While the two veterans weren’t awful by any means, they didn’t show much that Razorbacks fans haven’t already seen, either.

Adding to the excitement of Razorback Nation surrounding the two quarterbacks Arkansas will soon be getting was the fact that Noland, a four-star signee that will arrive this summer in Fayetteville, announced he has no intentions of pursuing a potential major league baseball career. Instead, Noland is looking forward to continuing his athletic career at Arkansas in both football and baseball.

During a recent appearance at the Fort Smith Razorback Club, Chad Morris was asked about this reaction to Noland’s statement of commitment to the Arkansas football program by Whole Hog Sports. A video of the interview has been posted on YouTube.

“Well, we were excited about that obviously. To get him for the next few years will be a great asset to our university,” Morris said. “So we are excited about that and the opportunity for this young man.”

The Razorback coach was then asked if Noland and Stephen Jones will be given a chance to earn the starting job alongside Kelley and Storey.

“They will all have a chance to compete,” Morris responded.

Here is what Morris had to say when asked if he was against starting a freshman QB:

“Absolutely not. The best player will play,” Morris explained. “We will continue to battle and it’s important for our guys on campus now and even the new guys coming in to have a great summer.”

If you missed it earlier this week, here is Noland’s statement expressing his commitment to the Arkansas program:
