Recruits are advised to commit to a school, not a coach, but it’s understandable that the coaching staff plays an important role. Marshall (Texas) wide receiver Savion Williams committed to Arkansas on May 11, 2019, but backed off that pledge soon after Chad Morris’ firing in November. Despite the coaching change, the Razorbacks are still in it to land Williams.

Williams includes the Hogs in his latest top three, which he shared Thursday on Twitter. With National Signing Day just around the corner, this is presumably a final three of SMU, Arkansas and TCU.

Since decommitting from Arkansas on Nov. 10, Williams received offers from Virginia (Nov. 13), Washington State (Nov. 14) and Ole Miss (Dec. 19). He visited SMU last month (Dec. 13) and has an official visit at Arkansas scheduled for Jan. 17.

Listed at over 6-4, 205 pounds, Williams is rated 3-stars, the No. 75 Texas product, No. 95 wide receiver and No. 582 recruit overall for the class of 2020 on the 247Sports Composite. New Arkansas coach Sam Pittman retained wide receivers coach Justin Stepp, who is Williams’ primary recruiter.
