Hunter Yurachek is learning some valuable lessons about social media after a post with more than 1 million views was interpreted as having a different message than he intended.

Last week, Yurachek appeared to be cleverly breaking news via his X account. Cutting out the media middleman, the Arkansas athletic director posted a video that he was on the “Muss Bus” amid rumors linking Razorback head coach Eric Musselman to other jobs.

Yurachek’s post was widely interpreted as that settles that. The college basketball world had accepted that Musselman was staying with the Hogs for at least the 2024-25 season. Come Monday, however, things don’t sound quite as settled as they did last Thursday.

Yuracheck appeared on the 1Star Recruits Podcast. He was asked about Musselman and the recent “Muss Bus” video post.

“That was a video that was recorded a few years ago. That video was probably 30 or 40 seconds in length,” Yurachek said on the podcast.

“I had our communications staff edit that down. As you guys alluded to, Coach Musselman, much to his success, has been rumored for multiple jobs that have been open here in this offseason. And he’s still the basketball coach, as we sit here today and record this podcast, at the University of Arkansas.”

As if volunteering “as we sit here today” didn’t already sound concerning, Yurachek further shared that Musselman has not been signed to a new contract.

“He has been well taken care of in his past contracts, where he has a couple of extensions in the past few years and six-figure increases,” Yurachek told 1Star Recruits. “There’s not a new contract in place for him this year. That video was just to dispel some of the rumors (and say), ‘Hey, he’s still our basketball coach.'”

The more Yurachek spoke on the podcast, the less certain he sounded of Musselman remaining at Arkansas.

“Now, this may change tomorrow – you’ll have to ask Coach Musselman that – but we very much want him to be an Arkansas Razorback,” Yurachek said. “We feel like where his contract currently sits, he’s compensated in the top 12-to-15 coaches in the country. He’s earned that compensation and done a great job.

“That video was nothing more than an athletic director trying to have a little bit of fun with some fanbases and naysayers that say, ‘Hey, Coach Musselman is leaving.’ He may be leaving, but right now he’s still here, he’s still our basketball coach, and he’s still driving the bus.”

Yurachek goes on to call the post an example of his sense of humor, saying he did not coordinate with Musselman. The replies and quotes of the original post show that no one interpreted Yurachek’s Muss Bus post as saying “Musselman is still the coach for now, but maybe not tomorrow.”

With Yurachek admittedly unsure about Musselman’s future (with the USC job open), he may be the only member of Razorback Nation who remains amused by the Muss Bus post.
