Landon Jackson has announced his intentions for the 2024 season.

The All-SEC defender took to social media to announce that he will be returning to Fayetteville for the 2024 season.

Jackson, who was a team captain in 2023, led the Razorbacks in sacks with 6.5. The pass rusher also added 44 tackles and defended a pass.

The junior pass rusher became one of Arkansas’ most important defenders this season. Jackson had 23 tackles and 3 sacks in 2022 before fully bursting on to the scene in 2023.

In the era of the transfer portal, players who have breakout seasons are typically thought to be locks to enter the transfer portal. However, the Razorbacks retaining head coach Sam Pittman may have played a role in keeping the star player in town.

Without Jackson, the Razorbacks would badly need to add pass rushers. Nobody other than Jackson had more than 5 sacks and the Razorbacks finished the season No. 41 in total sacks.

Jackson was part of a huge turnaround for the Razorback defense in 2023. In 2022, the team ended the season with the No. 124 total defense. In 2023, the team had the No. 48 total defense in the nation. The return of Jackson will be a welcome sign for a Razorback team that has seen some other playmakers walk out this offseason.
