When it comes to Arkansas football, there are those who think all of the games should be played in Fayetteville and those who think several games should be played in Little Rock each year.

It’s a tough tightrope to walk, and new coach Chad Morris and new AD Hunter Yurachek are going to learn that in the coming years.

This week, Yurachek joined “Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly” to discuss why the Hogs moved their spring game to Little Rock for 2018, citing construction at Razorback Stadium and a chance to create a special weekend in Little Rock as the biggest factors:

“Getting between Fayetteville and Little Rock is a little bit easier than it used to be,” he said. “… At times, you have to do what we’re doing with the spring game. Obviously, there’s a significant amount of construction going on at Razorback Stadium right now. There was a possibility we could have played the game there, but there have been some significant changes to the construction schedule, breaking down the road that runs from the tunnel down to the north end zone project. As opposing to trying to squeeze that in on a high school stadium or somewhere at the practice field, we just felt like it made sense with Coach Morris and his entire staff being new. Let’s go ahead and move the spring game down to Little Rock.”

If the Hogs aren’t going to play a regular season game in Little Rock each year, it makes sense to at least have the spring game there. Whether that makes Razorback fans happy, though, is another story entirely.
