Arkansas has reportedly met with multiple coaches during its search, but one has a personality that’s all his own.

Football Scoop reported that a source said, “the Razorback search ventured west in recent days, meeting with Mike Leach to discuss the job.”

Leach is in his eighth season at Washington State where he has a 55-46 record. He earlier coached at Texas Tech for 10 seasons where he compiled a record of 84-43. Before Texas Tech, Leach was on Bob Stoops’ Oklahoma staff, and offensive coordinator for Hal Mumme at Kentucky and Valdosta State University. Under Mumme and Leach, the Kentucky offense set 6 NCAA records, 41 SEC records and 116 school records in 22 games.

Leach last year was named the AFCA National Coach of the Year and Pac-12 Coach of the Year, and has led WSU to 5 bowl appearances in his first 7 years, including each of the last 4 years, a program first.

But Leach also is known for his unique personality where he discusses all sorts of things about football and life in general, such as wedding and marriage advice for a reporter who covers his team. He also went on a sarcastic rant about coaches covering their mouths, and Pac-12 mascots. Plenty of media would endorse a Leach hire just for the press conferences alone.
