Although the John Chavis to Arkansas hire has not been made official, it could happen this evening once Texas A&M’s bowl game is over.

For now, though, there are multiple reports linking Chavis to Arkansas as the program’s highest paid coordinator in history.

On Friday, FootballScoop reported that veteran defensive coach Steve Caldwell will be joining Chavis’ staff at Arkansas. Caldwell coached with Chavis at Tennessee for 10-plus seasons, and he’s an Arkansas State alum. Most recently, Caldwell has spent the last four seasons at Boise State as the team’s associate head coach and defensive line coach.

Caldwell originally joined forces with Boise State’s head coach Bryan Harsin in 2013 at Arkansas State.

It’s unclear exactly what his responsibilities will be with the Hogs program.
