SEC Network analyst says Arkansas could turn to an incoming freshman to start at QB
The Arkansas Razorbacks held their spring game in Little Rock on Saturday, concluding their spring practice sessions.
In fans’ first look at Chad Morris’s offense, speed was king, as the Hogs snapped the ball at an impressive rate. However, SEC Network analyst Chris Doering doesn’t think the Arkansas coaches were thrilled with the quarterback play on Saturday.
In fact, Doering said on “Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly” that he thinks Morris could turn to a freshman who will arrive on campus this summer instead of Cole Kelley, Ty Storey or any other quarterback currently on the roster:
Doering: I’m not sure Arkansas’ coaches are convinced that their starting QB is on campus right now. … I don’t think it’s beyond belief to think it could be one of these true freshmen coming in.

Two intriguing prospects will arrive on campus this summer — 4-star signee Connor Noland, who is also a talented baseball player, and 3-star signee John Stephen Jones, who is Jerry Jones’s grandson.
Kelley and Storey should still be considered the favorites, as they had the benefit of spring practices, but we’ve seen the impact freshman quarterbacks have made in the SEC the past couple of years, so Morris shouldn’t be afraid to trust a young signal-caller if that’s what gives the Hogs the best chance to win.
