Auburn entered Wednesday’s game ranked two spots lower than No. 11 South Carolina. The No. 13 Tigers could not have made a stronger case for a rankings readjustment.

Bruce Pearl’s squad set records with its 101-61 home win over the Gamecocks. Forty points is the largest margin of victory for Auburn over an opponent ranked in the AP Top 25. It’s also the biggest blowout ever of an AP top-15 SEC team.

Auburn’s dynamic duo of Jaylin Williams and Johni Broome led the way. Williams led all players with 23 points, going 8-of-11 on field-goal attempts, including 5-of-7 from 3-point territory. Broome also made 8 field goals, going 4-of-5 from behind the arc, to score 21 points.

The Tigers shot 61% from the field (36-of-59), including 60% on 3-pointers (12-of-20). South Carolina shot just 35% on field-goal attempts (18-of-52), making 20% of its 3-point attempts (3-of-15).

Auburn outscored South Carolina in bench points 39-1. The Tigers also dominated in assists (22-5) and points off turnovers (25-8).

In the SEC standings, Auburn and South Carolina are now tied. The Tigers and Gamecocks are both 9-3 in conference play, a half game back of Alabama (9-2).

Auburn hosts No. 22 Kentucky on Saturday.
