Auburn is reportedly promoting an analyst to an on-field role.

Brian Stultz of Rivals was the first to report that Vontrell King-Williams will coach Auburn defensive linemen.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reports that King-Williams will focus on defensive tackles. Zenitz adds that Josh Aldridge is shifting roles from linebackers coach to Edge coach. DJ Durkin, who was recently hired as defensive coordinator, will work with linebackers.

King-Williams has been in coaching since 2017, getting his start as a defensive intern at UTSA. His next stop was Eastern Michigan, where he was a graduate assistant for the 2018 and ’19 seasons.

In 2020 and ’21, King-Williams was on Hugh Freeze’s Liberty staff. He took the on-field defensive tackles coaching position at Eastern Michigan in 2022. Freeze added King-Williams to his Auburn staff in January 2023 as a defensive analyst working with the defensive line.
