Charles Barkley is about as well known for his love of gambling as he is for his sports takes and bold predictions. A basketball legend, Barkley is also an established football fan. Ahead of Super Bowl 58, Barkley appeared on “Inside the NFL” and shared that he has already been burned twice betting against one conference champion, but is optimistic that the third time will be the charm.

“I have bet against Patrick Mahomes two games in a row,” Barkley said. “I thought (the Kansas City Chiefs) would lose to Buffalo. I thought they would lose to Baltimore.

“But let me tell you something, I am undaunted. I’m going with the San Francisco 49ers.”

Barkley wasn’t alone in doubting Mahomes. Many fans and pundits wondered how he and the Chiefs would do playing two playoff games on the road. In duels with the Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, Mahomes came out on top, earning another trip to The Big Game.

Despite those big road wins, Kansas City enters the Super Bowl as an underdog. San Francisco opened as a slight favorite, and the 49ers remain favored by 2-to-2.5 points at the most prominent sportsbooks.

Super Bowl 58 from Allegiant Stadium on the Las Vegas Strip is set to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. ET Sunday, airing on CBS.
