Auburn’s thin depth at running back appears to be taking another hit as senior running back Devan Barrett has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Last season, Barrett made the decision to opt out of the college football season. He also previously spent time as a defensive back on Auburn’s roster.

News of Barrett’s decision to enter the portal was first reported by Matt Zenitz of On 3 Sports.

While Barrett was never much of a contributor during his time on The Plains, the former four-star recruit is one of only three scholarship running backs on Auburn’s roster at the moment.

Thankfully for the Tigers, they won’t be going into the season with just two scholarship running backs as Auburn signed three-star Mississippi running back Jarquez Hunter in the 2021 recruiting cycle and is adding former Central Michigan runner Jordon Ingram via transfer heading into fall camp.
