Auburn went on the road Saturday and did what it always does in College Station, leave with a win over Texas A&M. The Tigers have won every game in College Station since the Aggies joined the SEC and that streak will continue on for at least another season as Auburn beat Texas A&M 42-27.

Immediately after the game ended, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn credited his team for finishing strong following a slow start to the game. The Aggies scored the only points of the first quarter, but Auburn’s special teams and defense really came through to help secure the big SEC win for the Tigers.

Here’s what Malzahn said on the field after the game.

“There was a lot of ups and downs,” Malzahn said. “I’m real proud of our team going on the road against a very talented team. I think the key thing that stood out to me was we stopped them down here in the red zone and we went 9 and 6, I couldn’t be happier.”

The Auburn coach was made a point to single out his outstanding running back Kerryon Johnson, calling him “one of the best running backs in the country” after the game. Johnson rushed the ball 29 times for 145 and a touchdown. He also contributed in the passing game, catching five balls for 29 yards and another score.

“Kerryon Johnson is one of the best running backs in the country, he does it every week, week in and week out,” Malzahn continued. “He needs to be in that mix talking about all those other guys. A lot of heart, a lot of courage, he’s making us go.”
