Gus Malzahn reveals game plan tweak for playing at Death Valley

As Auburn looks to make changes to its game plan and end the losing streak at LSU, coach Gus Malzahn on his radio show revealed a tweak to its preparation.
“We simplified some things and will play a little faster,” Malzahn said, according to AU Gold Mine. “It is a hostile environment. When we’re playing fast, we’re better. But at the same time, you have to be strategic.”
Auburn has lost 9 straight in a variety of ways, and it started in 2001 when Nick Saban’s team won 27-14 to clinch a trip to the SEC Championship. For perspective, many players on both teams weren’t born the last time Auburn won in Tiger Stadium. For his part, coach Ed Orgeron said the streak doesn’t mean a “hill of beans” come Saturday. It’s gone both ways, though, as the home team has won 16 of the 19 in the series.
Malzahn understands that the smallest moves may prove to be a big difference in the outcome.
“I think the last three went down to the last possession or two,” he said. “You have to find a way to seize the opportunity.”
Malzahn also revealed that the running back-by-committee approach would be in effect against LSU, including Joey Gatewood at quarterback.
