One of Auburn’s fastest players had surgery earlier this week on his hand, and coach Gus Malzahn updated his status and availability going forward.

Schwartz was a star sprinter in high school, and missed the Tigers’ spring practice in order to focus on track. Schwartz on Monday tweeted an update following surgery that it was a success and he can’t wait to get back on the field.

Malzahn added that he would give an update on Schwartz before Auburn’s season opener against Oregon in Arlington, Texas.

Schwartz was fourth on the team in receiving last season with 22 catches for 357 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Pembroke Pines, Florida native combined for 568 yards from scrimmage (11.6 yards per touch on 27 carries and 22 receptions) and scored seven touchdowns in 2018 (5 rushing, 2 receiving) after he played in all 13 games.
