Hugh Freeze turned to the transfer portal before his first season to fill out Auburn’s quarterback room. Many fans are surprised that Freeze’s staff has not added a transfer QB for Year 2.

Freeze was asked Wednesday if the coaching staff did any looking around at portal quarterbacks over the last few weeks.

“The Twitter world had me taking everybody,” Freeze told reporters. “I guess that’s the hot thing to do now. If a quarterback went in the portal, I started immediately getting messages, ‘This is the one!’”

Freeze said he ultimately did not feel the need to bring in a transfer.

Now’s a perfect time to sign up for a mobile sports betting app with the Super Bowl coming up soon and March Madness around the corner!

“I really like our room,” Freeze continued. “I wanted to try to build with high school kids like Hank (Brown) and Walker (White) and us try to develop those guys along with, obviously, the experience Payton (Thorne) brings. I kinda wanna see that through.”

Things could change between now and Week 1. Auburn is set to wrap up spring practice on April 6 with the A-Day game. The spring transfer portal window is scheduled for April 16-30, and there will likely be a few quarterbacks looking for opportunities.
