Jarrett Stidham was undoubtedly the star of Auburn’s spring game on Saturday. The deep ball was a big part of Auburn’s offense during A-Day, as Stidham went 16-of-20 passing for 267 yards, highlighted by a 50-yard pass to WR Nate Craig-Myers.

The impressive performance has earned the Baylor transfer an abundance of praise (and hype), and one teammate has gone as far as to compare him to a 2016 Heisman Trophy finalist.

“I’m just impressed with him, because he reminds me of Baker Mayfield in some ways with his passing game,” senior S Tray Matthews told AL.com’s Tom Green.

The Tigers defense was no match for Mayfield when Oklahoma and Auburn met in the Sugar Bowl. Mayfield was 19-of-28 for 296 yards and two touchdowns in OU’s 35-19 win over Auburn.

Mayfield’s importance to the Oklahoma offense has him being talked about as an early Heisman favorite, though his offseason arrest in Arkansas may hinder that campaign. If Stidham continues to air it out to Auburn’s talented receiving corps, we may be talking about his Heisman candidacy this fall.
