Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson led the SEC with 1,320 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, but still only managed to finish ninth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

That was behind four other running backs — Stanford’s Bryce Love, Penn State’s Saquon Barkley, San Diego State’s Rashaad Penny and Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor.

On Sunday, 2007 Heisman winner and current ESPN analyst Tim Tebow said he thought Johnson was snubbed a bit by Heisman voters (via AL.com):

“He should have been higher in the Heisman voting,” Tebow told AL.com on Sunday. “I think he was one of the most valuable players in the SEC, if not the most valuable player. I thought that he showed a lot of versatility, and I think a big thing for him is being able to stay healthy.

“Going forward, I think that’s going to be a key for him, because when he is healthy, he is dynamic and he is really good.”

Johnson will play in the Peach Bowl on Monday even though he was banged up for the SEC Championship Game earlier this month. He says he’s 100-percent healthy, so he should be fun to watch.

From there, we’ll have to wait and see if he declares for the 2018 NFL Draft or comes back for one more year at Auburn.
