They hoped to be having this celebration a few days later, but Auburn fans were excited to welcome back the Tigers hoops team Sunday for a celebration of the historic 2018-19 season.

Coach Bruce Pearl and AU players spoke to the Auburn Arena crowd the day after the heartbreaking loss to Virginia, reflecting on the team’s accomplishments.

Pearl reminded fans just how strong the Tigers closed out the 2018-19 campaign.

“When we were 7-7 in the SEC coming home from a dissappointing loss to Kentucky, there were some experts that didn’t even have this team in the N-C-double-A Tournament! Well, guess what? We had another idea – we’re gonna bust some brackets and we’re going to stay in the tournament all the way to the Final Four!” he said to cheers from the crowd.

The crowd also sang “We’ve Got Jared,” the “Sugar, Sugar” parody created by College and Magnolia writer/podcaster Drew Crowson.
