Former Ole Miss head coach and current Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze has reportedly been contacted by Texas Tech for their coaching vacancy according to Chris Hummer of 247Sports.

Hummer says there are several names on Tech’s list but Freeze seems to be on the top of their wishlist.

Freeze was at Ole Miss from 2012-2016, winning 39 games (27 vacated due to violations), including two victories over Alabama, and a Sugar Bowl win over Oklahoma State. But allegations of cheating and other misdoings did Freeze in and he was forced to resign.

In 2018, Freeze resurfaced at Liberty, where his current record is 25-8 including a 10-1 record last year. Freeze’s Flames take on Ole Miss Saturday in Oxford.

Freeze is thought of by many college football analysts as an offensive genius. If he were to get this position, this would be his third job in 9 years.
