Recently, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said he’d like to have the Cowboy players back in action by May 1, citing their health as young athletes.

That rubbed many people the wrong way, as it seemed as if Gundy was being reckless with the health of young men under his leadership (who are unpaid, as well).

On Saturday, AP reporter Ralph Russo tweeted out a statement released by Gundy, who apologized and said the well-being of the Oklahoma State athletes is his first priority:

It’s not that people were “offended” by Gundy’s first remarks. It just seemed as though he was willing to put his athletes at risk so he and the state of Oklahoma could make money.

Regardless, Gundy acknowledged his earlier statements and apologized.
