I'm trying to consider how 6th in rushing, 8th in scoring, and not even breaking top 20 in receiving equals 2nd in all time production ... maybe I'm missing the point here, but bottom line is still the same. Hurd was good, but his production tanked as his excuses rose. An O.C. with more than 4 plays in his repitoir would have helped. Even without committing to the I (they had neither the O line or FB to execute anyway), last year's bowl had flashes simply from mismatches and Dobb's audibles. The young man quit on his teammates when the road wasn't the same as the preseason programs promised. plain and simple. He deserves a true shot at that golden trophy. The Hyman Trophy, that is.
Even as a Gator fan, by luck or whatever, I appreciate seeing TN finally make the rivalry more than an opportunity to sleep on the Saturday. I'm getting a distinct feeling you must really be hurting for said sleep...
Overall good of the program? You're seriously joking right?? Unless the intention is to spend another 3-4 years crossing fingers every year to squeak out a W against Tennessee Tech on homecoming, I'll chalk that last comment up to the shine we can find on the mountain.. You do live in or around Knoxville and remember the last 8 years right?
Debord* damn autocorrect is as flaky as his play calling skills
I didn't realize coaches can let their fundamentals drift to the wayside in the 4th quarter, especially concerning ball control or poor passing decisions. Dubose has shown absolutely no fortitude for anything more than read draws, or slant routes. An unstable at best pocket doesn't help, but Dubose will receive his walking papers at season's end (or sooner with another loss), not Jones
Will be fun to watch this chess match for sure. Kiffin and Orgeron know each other very well, and Kiffin and Saben will face a team looking to cement Coach O as HC with a W in Death Valley. The praise given is earned, and Saben sees his biggest hurdle to Atlanta this week. Wouldn't surprise me if Kiffin shares cots in the film room with Hurts this week to prep him for the blitz packages coming his way.
Maybe so, but his decision not only revealed his lack of respect for his brethren on the team (all of whom shed the same blood, sweat, and tears in both victory and defeat), he futhered this b.s. entitled mindset for his young fans who admired him. It sets a terrible example of taking the easy out when facing obstacles. The young man sees only $$ signs, and I hate to say it, the lack of fortitude and resolve to finish the season will be his legacy. He will re-enroll in school undoubtedly, and has the size for WR/TE without question. Hell, maybe Cleveland wants another whining primadonna, they already jettisoned the other, and have a position to fill.
If* the ankle holds. The 200 is total, not just rushing as well. Containing Allen and getting Fournette to the edges is key for this to happen.
Ed O has lit a fire under Fournette, of his ankle holds, and the game played in Death Valley, I could see him dropping close to 200 on Bama.. IF they stand any shot, it will be on Fournettes back drawing the D to the line and don't be surprised if a flea flicker gets a look.
Anyone calling themselves a fan of the Vols, yet calling for Jones's head at season's end while watching the guts this particular team (Hurd excluded) have played with, are the reason the SEC finds you such a laughable fan base. In it for the long haul, brick by brick right? Well, as long as you don't have to struggle as stone masons.
On point 100%. This was Team 119 for Tennessee, not Team 119 featuring Jalen Hurd. Life won't always produce roses, sometimes it takes a commitment to something more than just your own desires. The kid is less than 500 yards from TN' s all time rushing mark in 3 years, and he chooses to walk? It's nothing but a pure cop out for his lack of dedication. Suck it up buttercup, I continued playing with a compression fracture of 6 vertebrae with nothing awaiting me at finish. We all played through pain, injuries are something different. There is no medical cure for a grown man and his bleeding vagina. I wish him the best, but have popcorn ready to watch other teams want no part of this toxicity in a year.
