Actually you don’t know what you’re talking about. Pickens was WR1, Arian Smith was starting at the slot position, Ratledge was a starter OG, Tykee Smith was the starting Safety AND an All American. The flu hit UGA before the Georgia Tech game (the game before the SECCG) and cycled through the rest of the team leading up to the SECCG. Pickens had a similar, yet more severe, injury as Williams & Metchie and just got back on the field for the GT game (caught 1 pass) which was again, one week before the SECCG. Not to mention after all of that, UGA played most of the season with a former fifth string former walk on QB due to their QB1 getting injured. Bama still had the best 2 CFB players in the country (Young & Anderson) on the field the entire championship game. Miss me with your whining and excuse making. With the way Bama, and UGA for that matter, recruit annually, injuries are NEVER an excuse for losing. I mean is Bama going to be giving their BCS Championship to Texas after Colt McCoy got injured early in that game? How many of you Bamers are saying that Texas would have beat Bama had McCoy not gotten injured? It’s lame and childish overall. How about developing all of your players and not just the star players. Saban is usually the best at doing that and has beaten Kirby many times because if that. That just wasn’t the case this time. Kirby out coached and had his entire team more prepared than Saban this time. Saban has even recently admitted as much. Stop with the lame excuses. Bama lost, end of story. Next season is a new season and Bama will be just fine.

But he’ll also be on a team with an elite defense. The defense is the true game changer. However, having a QB with plenty of major CFB starting experience can only be a benefit. After all, the offense truly can’t be any worse than it was the majority of last season.
